Having worked all her life with different mediums and disciplines, Adelia Clavien embraces the polymath tradition. From abstract representation to the corporeal beauty of human figures, Clavien’s work encompasses a wide breath of styles.

While currently being based in Switzerland, the artist, was born in Portugal but has been living in Switzerland since 1981 where she lived in Valais and St Gall, exploring both paintings with different mediums such acrylic, charcoal, and epoxy, while later starting a career in photography. Self-educated, Adelia Clavien speaks mutiple languages, plays several music instruments, is adaptive to new technology, and is a naturally open person. Her works have seen the spotlight in Dubai, Lisbon, São Paulo, Amsterdam, Venice and all over Switzerland. Such a series that has gained prominence is that coming from her inspiration from film actresses such as Gina Lollobrigida, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, among others. Working with a series of different mediums, Clavien diffuses these materials, creating layers of overlapping mediums to enhance a different perspective on these women, both from a conceptual and technical perspective. The artist has also done a series of male representations as well, including stars like Freddie Mercury, Bob Marley, Sean Connery, Jim Morrison, among others. The artist has in recent years been dedicating more time to promoting her works as well as exploring her interest in abstraction and pop art featuring the iconic men and women which inspire her.
