SIDE BY SIDE | ANALOGS & NFTS

Whereas physical art has played a great role in history, the place of digital art and NFTs have begun emerging in the last quarter of a century and has taken an immense dimension during the Covid-19 pandemic as galleries were under quarantine. The 2022 Venice Biennale awakens itself to these realities and provides guests with a wide variety of both traditional works (analogs) as well as diverse collections of Non-Fungible Tokens. Such is Saphira & Venturas’s newest exhibition in Via Garibaldi with a spotlight on Korean artist, Hijo Nam. The exhibition is curated by Alcinda Saphira and will have its opening reception on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 18:30 until 21:00. Visitors may rsvp or arrive as walk-ins from the opening until the closing on September 30.

Analogs & NFTs is the fourth in a series of exhibitions entitled Side By Side that focus on the gallery’s commitment to showcasing contemporary works in its collection during the acclaimed Biennale. This exhibition has a spotlight on Korean artist Hijo Nam, a mixed-media artist, who mastered many traditional Korean techniques for handling materials such as lacquer (Ottchil), Hanji, and fabrics, applying them without limiting materials or genres for the her own free expression. The gallery will also be exhibition a collection of analog works by abstract works by Joanne Handler and Melissa McCraken as well as pieces in the figurative tradition such as those by Rene Nascimento, Alfonso Segovia, Phyllis Shipley, and Huang Xiang. Digital works, in the forms of NFTs will also be exhibited such as those by Rosie Kim, Hwichan Ko, Abby Perillo, Aro, Daphne Anastassiou, Elisabeth Worstman, and Victoria Citro
