IRENE VAN CELESTINE | SOLO EXHIBITION

Honoring the tradition of figurative pieces and the passion which the individual artist expresses the pathos of their talent. On Saturday, January 28, Saphira & Ventura welcomes local New Yorkers and guests to its solo exhibition of , an exhibition curated by Alcinda Saphira. The exhibition will run until February 04 and will be located at 4 W 43rd St. #416 New York, NY 10036. The opening reception will be from 3pm to 6pm. Works will also be available to view on the gallery’s artsy.

“I believe that true art is conceived by deep struggles, internal conflicts and desires.” such are the words of Irene Van Celestine, also known as Irina Mezheritskiy. In her dedication to manifesting her ideas, struggles, and creative spirit, Van Celestine’s work feature a wide array of carefully crafted themes, stories, and references. The artist works with oil on canvas and with a variety of sizes. To take her Portrait of a Young Warrior, for example, Van Celestine creates a youthful figure with a touch of fear yet determination in the eyes, a powerful sword, and a majestic pose. Among her other pieces, she plunges the viewer into deep landscapes and seascapes while in others she features dazzling figures in both earthly and celestial spaces. The artist herself has had a remarkable experience in life. Being born in Central European region of Russia, and raised by her grandparents, she eventually entered a Medical University in Kyiv and late immigrated to the United States at 21.
