Reflective Expressions

Collective Exhibition
May 23–29, 2023

Embracing contemporary approaches and disciplines and what it has to offer, midtown based gallery, Saphira & Ventura is proud to present Reflective Expressions, an exhibition uniting a collection of international artists whose works reflect not just their inner core, but also a variety of ideas, modes of thinking, and techniques.

In keeping with the tradition of the reflective nature of art yet orienting itself through more contemporary approaches, the gallery hosts an exhibition of six artists, each from their own unique school and background. Bari Bing, based in New York and Miami, follows a gentle approach with colors yet in form and lines, very much in keeping with the art deco style which has been a great influence on her. With natural beauty, Belgian-based artist, FAN, invokes a lush biotic force in her depiction of creatures from the various nations she traveled. Highlighting a unique style, both contemporary in its boldness and tone. In the realm of abstract expressionism, the artist, Sylvain Boisjoly, shows us tender strokes with his acrylic paintings, works like Artifices and Somber Emotions being contrasting yet powerful pieces.

Barbara Shelley, on the other hand, shows her true colors with elements of New York’s alla mode fashion life and delightful mixed media figures. In a similar note with interdisciplinary artist, Adelia Clavien, whose celebrated portraits series with different mediums creating layers of overlapping materials capture iconic women such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, among others with a flourishing conceptual perspective.

Finally, in his second exhibition with S&V Gallery, Behrouz Bahadoori, based in Vienna, expresses in his work a pathos of eternity, his broad and reverent landscapes, emphasizing an ideal yet also having the reposing element of a familiar oasis.
