BLOOMING TRANSITIONS

Collective Exhibition

On View: Jun 14–20, 2023

Working with the theme of transitions has been an iconic approach for artists since time immemorial, in a glancing at the power of this theme, international gallery, Saphira and Ventura will be hosting Blooming Transitions, an exhibition focusing on the strength of this subject with a collective exhibition curated by Alcinda Saphira.

In its inclusion of artists from around the globe, Blooming Transitions exhibition sheds light on contemporary artists making their statements and elevating an aesthetic which concentrates on the timeless theme of transitions whether this be through technique, context or statement. Guests at the gallery can see the provocative yet engaging works of Katy Le Blanc, an artist experimenting with an assemblage of mediums while also focusing on the concerning phenomenon of anthropogenic climate change, among others who work with various mediums such as New York-based artist, Vikash Jha, whose lush abstract paintings capture the sparks of light together with displaying a smooth and radiant play of colors. But while Jha transitions with mediums, Quebec artist, Aro, focuses on a transition of delicate strokes, creating splendid circles and loose lines with design-like flair. From Rio de Janeiro, Maria Page emphasizes bold colors in her works, transitioning the palette from one primary color to another one, synthesizing the whole space of the canvas as it is into one moving piece. This theme of motion and its transitional qualities is also incorporated in the work of Hijo Nam, an artist focusing on nature, time, motion, and a series of other themes which she explores with her variety of materials. While Gerrit Oppelland-Hampel’s picturesque series of 12×12 abstract works emphasize a touch of clarity but also nostalgia with its soft colors, balancing form and tone wit their transitional nature.
