As she explores the various dynamics both in subject matter and technique, the dedication is the same with Lonell Nellessen, of whom Saphira & Ventura is proud to present a solo exhibition, curated by Alcinda Saphira, opening on the 8th of February, 2023. Her works range from floral to figurative, among others which capture the wide range of emotions and ideas of the artist herself. 

Creating art has always been a second instinct to Lonell Nellessen, growing up in Nebraska, she partook in the exploration of many mediums from acrylic to ink but also charcoal, watercolor, among other mediums. The works derive their content from Nellessen’s dreams but can also be inspired by something as simple as the touch of a canvas. She has painted various themes and subjects, among many of which are the beauty of flowers such as we can see in her work Roses Penumbra, a striking work capturing the partial illumination of roses or her Tears of Joy, where a delicate ripple effect is juxtaposed with the bloom of a red flower. Regarding her style, Nellessen doesn’t have a particular distinction but embraces what her inspirational muse brings her whether that comes in the form of an earthy tone with more texture or a clean swipe of light colors blooming forth on the canvas. Guests will have the opportunity to see the differences among these works and their unique character.
